An update by Porch Lights

It's been a while, so it's time for an update!

Emily and I are still close friends, and we still play music together. We stopped playing Porch Lights shows a while back when we got pretty busy with work+school, and I moved to Salt Lake. Maybe one day we'll do another Porch Lights show, but we'll see.

I really love Porch Lights. I poured a lot of myself into it at a really special time. Emily and I haven't really stopped making music together, we regularly hang out and record. Right now I'm finishing up an EP about lost love and cars in the 70s, titled Street Gaze. I've released one single from that and will release the 6-track EP sometime soon. Emily is on several of those songs, and I've even toyed with the idea of releasing it under the name Porch Lights. We'll see.

I've had the idea of doing more "Porch Lights type" music, and if I do I will probably release it under the Porch Lights name, and hopefully Emily will be in a lot of it. Emily is a big part of Porch Lights for me, so I'll likely not really do anything on that name unless Emily is involved.

I regularly get the emails and see that people are listening to Porch Lights music, which really means a lot to me. Thank you, truly, to everyone who listens. Keep playing, keep sharing, thank you.

So, short version of the update is this: Porch Lights is still alive. We're always available for a chat, email, whatever. If you really like the music and want to hear some songs I've never really released... hit me up, I'm more than happy to share them.

Still here,

Corey

You guys, so many things have happened since we last blogged. Let's make a list:

  • Our Kickstarter funded, and even overfunded! Wow! We're so thankful to everyone who contributed. We'll be sending out rewards this week!
  • We were recently featured on a very cool Tempe-based blog called Yab Yum! You can read the article here. Super nice.
  • We're practicing and playing and getting ready for our release show this weekend! It will be on September 6th at 7:30 pm. You can find more details on our event page, or check out the Facebook event. Please come, and tell your friends!

I know we've said this a million times, but again-- we're so grateful for all the good things that have happened (and are happening) for us over the past few weeks. Thanks for being our friends.

Friends, last night we played our very first show at Springville Library! It was just outside the building next to the river. We had the greatest time.

Debbie Balzotti of The Daily Herald was there, and she wrote a wonderful article on us. Read the full article here!
